The Boss likes ‘What’s your favorite tech gadget’

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

Joe Morel at WhosTheBoss.net has recently started to take a look at some of the polls that are running on Pollection and decipher what all of this public opinion expressed so freely means. The first poll that has caught his attention is one that has to do with gadgets:

What’s your favorite tech gadget

After analyzing the results, the Boss has concluded that

What’s the really interesting thing here? The cell phone dominates…People want to connect and communicate and they don’t really care about the technology they use to do that.

We will continue to monitor Joe’s blog for more interesting analysis and will highlight his posts here every once in a while. But make sure you check his blog as well not to miss any of his thoughts on popular polls.

Blogsphere Fascination with FB

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

If you read any blogs or even traditional news outlets last week, you might have noticed that a fascination with Facebook is in full effect. In response to Microsoft acquisition rumors, Scoble thinks that Microsoft doesn’t deserve Facebook. Read/WriteWeb ups the ante and devotes one whole week of analysis to Facebook, and John Battelle asserts that maybe Facebook has grabbed the mojo stick from Google!

You might say wow, just in the week you guys released your product on Facebook everybody started talking about them. What a coincidence! We here at Pollection don’t think of it as a coincidence. It was all a well planned PR push by us, the only flaw was that we forgot to have them mention our product :-)! No worries though, we will get that going soon…

One of the common themes that emerged from all this coverage was the fact that grownups are starting to get plenty of friend requests from Facebook universe. Which is pretty much inline with the changes in user base demographic on Facebook we have been reading about. So, the natural question is how many new friend requests have you been getting in the past couple of weeks? Or better yet, how many Facebook friends do you currently have?

This was the topic of the latest poll on Read/Write Web and we decided that it might make sense to ask this question from our users on Facebook. We have include the poll that is running on Facebook right now in this post [did we mention that our polls run across multiple web properties and aggregate the data? Well, more on that soon]. Once it is done we will compare the results with what Read/Write Web readers have to say and let you know.
